Berlin Declaration on the Unidroit Principles
The Berlin Declaration on the UNIDROIT Principles is issued on the occasion of the 22nd General Congress of the International Academy of Comparative Law (IACL) held in Berlin.
This declaration aims to contribute to overcome the divide between different legal systems, especially between parties from common and civil law countries with regard to international contracts, and to thereby facilitate international business and, in particular, cross-border commercial contracts and international dispute resolution, by using the universal and neutral UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts.
Special Reporter: Prof. Dr. Eckart Brödermann (Germany/Europe) and Prof. Pedro Mendoza Montano (Guatemala/Americas).
Supported by about 400 signatories from 103 jurisdictions including academics, practitioners, arbitrators as well as national and international organisations.
